10 reasons to attend our Outpost Annual Owners Meeting on March 5
In a world where the cost of groceries is rising, what is your co-op doing to manage price increases while continuing to support local farmers and vendors?
That’s a question you’ll find answers to at Outpost’s Annual Meeting, which is coming up on Sunday, March 5, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Hunger Task Force, 5000 W. Electric Ave. [You can RSVP here]
But there are many more reasons why you should consider attending.
- It’s our first in-person annual meeting in three years! Come celebrate the fact that we really are better together! We can’t wait to see you face to face.
- Enjoy great food: We always make sure to have some great snacks on hand, as well as beverages to enjoy.
- Give Pam a high five. After 42 years with Outpost, General Manager Pam Mehnert is preparing to retire. This will be the last annual meeting she runs before her departure. Drop in to thank her for her amazing years of service.
- Learn about the health of your co-op: Get insights on Outpost’s accomplishments over the past year, as well as future opportunities and potential challenges that we face. You might also glean insights into how you can contribute to our co-op’s future.
- Tour the new Hunger Task Force facility: Milwaukee’s only free and local food bank made a big move in 2021, combining their two warehouses into one more efficient operation. Learn more about their work during facility tours between 1 and 2:30 p.m.
- Ask questions: As an Outpost member, your voice is important to the well-being of the business. We want to hear from you and answer any questions you might have about what’s up at your co-op. We explicitly leave time at the end of the meeting so you can get your questions answered!
- Draw energy from like-minded individuals: One of the awesome things about cooperative grocers is that they are built on community. Our owners come from diverse backgrounds, but our interests in health, wellness and support for local food brings us together.
- Chat with board members: You elected us, and we are working hard to represent your interests. We’d love it if you would stop by the board table and get to know us a bit better!
- Meet the candidates running for the Outpost Board: Democratic participation is part of the foundational bedrock of all cooperatives and voting is one of the cooperative principles. The annual meeting gives you a chance to find out more about fellow co-op members who will be running for board positions this year.
- Win a prize! Every year, Outpost gives away prizes at the end of the annual meeting. But you can’t win if you don’t attend!
