Outpost Natural Foods: A Community Gem

Board Beet
By Your Board on October 6, 2015

I’m now four months into service as an Outpost Natural Foods board member. How’s that working out for you? The question I’m often asked never gets old. I embrace it as an opportunity to promote Outpost Natural Foods and all that we do. As a new board member, I am comfortable learning as well as offering feedback and sharing my experience in public relations and marketing.

A competitive grocery market is nothing new. However, today’s widespread availability of local and organic products provides more choices for consumers, and a bit more challenge for Outpost to compete. Outpost is celebrating 45 years of longevity for good reasons. Our food cooperative is meeting a community need for healthy foods and products, embraces values such as vendor transparency, supports local farming, community involvement, and builds non-profit community partnerships.

We’re one of the hundreds of food cooperatives across the country committed to contributing to healthy communities. It starts with providing great food choices and concern about the communities we serve. Join our excitement as we become part of the Lindsay Heights community by featuring a healthy food pop-up store. Outpost is among the partners of Walnut Way’s Wellness Commons. The Commons, located at 1617 W. North Avenue will house services offered by the Milwaukee Center for Independence, Fondy Market, The Juice Kitchen, and Outpost.

The pop-up store will join our other five Outpost locations spread throughout the Metro Milwaukee area. While smaller in size than our larger stores, our pop-up market will feature a wide variety of natural, organic, and local items selected with input from owners residing nearby.

Take a look at our website to learn more about the benefits of co-op ownership. Lastly, turn to your Outpost Natural Food store for fun events. Check out the website calendar. I hope to meet you in person soon at an upcoming event.
