6 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Miss Outpost's Annual Meeting
6 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Miss Outpost's Annual Meeting
Board BeetBy Your Board on March 13, 2017
As an engaged owner of Outpost Co-op, it is important that you attend this year’s annual meeting on Sunday March 19, 2017 at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Mark your calendars!
Here are six reasons why you won’t want to miss the Annual Meeting:
1. Protect your investment
Any personal investment that you make will usually get a little check-up from you, from time to time. You might check on how a mutual fund is being managed, or you might inquire about your property. Similarly, why not check the financial health of your investment in Outpost? At the annual meeting, you will get a summary of Outpost’s financials, past challenges and successes, and a vision for the next year.
2. Vote!
Vote to Amend the Articles of Incorporation of Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative to grow the co-op and release 50,000 additional shares of Class One Voting Stock. Don’t worry - we’ll be there to explain what this means!
3. Get to know current board members
You will not only hear from your board President (David Lee) and Treasurer (Jan Pierce), but you will also have the opportunity to talk face-to-face with any of the board members. Stop by and say hello. We want to meet you!
4. Get to know prospective board candidates
Before you vote for the next three board candidates, get to know who is on the ballot. You will meet all prospective board members in person and you can ask them how they will represent you. You will have thoughtfully evaluated each candidate as you cast your ballot. You can vote from March 20, 2017 to April 3, 2017.
5. Participate in the Q & A (Open Forum)
You will be able to ask questions of any of our presenters, or to the board in general. While you are welcome to engage with us via email or phone, face-to-face interactions such as the annual meeting are a great opportunity to hear and be heard.
6. Enjoy the venue!
This year's event will be held at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Outpost will host a Global Flavors Market in the Garden Gallery, where you can sample your way through globally inspired food and meet local restaurants and Outpost’s local vendors. In addition, the first 200 owners will get free passes to the museum and to the Global Kitchen traveling exhibit. This exhibit is at the museum through July 9th and after the Annual Meeting, you can explore the complex food systems that bring together what we eat from farm to fork.
As an owner, we want you to be engaged in the co-op as much as you can be. Come and learn about the co-op's health and vision. We hope to see you there!
