Congratulations and thank you, Outpost community - shoppers and owners! Since 1999, the Outpost community has participated in our Buy A Bag fundraising program to help combat hunger in Milwaukee. From November 1st to December 31, every round up and donation went towards the purchase of natural and organic food, including fresh produce, enough to fill a grocery bag to feed a family in need. The food is delivered to the emergency food bank at Hunger Task Force in the late winter when community donations tend to be low. What does the impact look like, you ask?

As reported by Hunger Task Force, Outpost donated 80,420 pounds of non-perishables and produce. A breakdown of the donation included:

• 32,164 pounds of non-perishables including canned green bean, corn, diced peaches, wild rice, toasted o’s cereal and cereal bars, and
• 48,256 pounds of fresh produce including potatoes, carrots and apples.

We are grateful for this partnership with Hunger Task Force, as well as the generosity of our shoppers and owners. It helps Outpost stay true to its mission and cooperative values rooted in honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others and a continued investment in a sustainable, healthy and diverse community.
