Good Food Brings Us Together

Apple season is in full swing which brings our favorite meal together of local pork chops, onions and apple with chicken stock and mustard…all from Outpost! A harvest season classic at our home. And as the days grow shorter and cold sets in, we have been saved by a winning combination of wheat-free veggie pizza and falafels from Outpost’s deli…another classic as we settle into fall.

And speaking of fall, Board Nominations always coincides with the falling of autumn leaves. Here are some great reasons why YOU should run in our next board election!

Run for the Outpost Board: Nominations Are Now Open

At Outpost, we believe a co-op is more than just a grocery store — it’s a community, owned and guided by the people it serves. That’s why our Board of Directors is so important. The Board sets the direction of our co-op, represents our owners, and helps ensure that Outpost continues to thrive for generations to come.

Now it’s your turn — Nominations are officially open for the Outpost Board of Directors!

Why Run for the Board?

Serving on the Board is a chance to make a real difference in your community. As a director, you’ll:

  • Help shape the long-range vision of the co-op.
  • Represent over 23,000 Outpost owners.
  • Strengthen connections between the co-op, our owners, and the greater Milwaukee community.
  • Gain experience in governance, leadership, and strategic thinking.

Board members don’t get involved in daily operations (like what’s on the shelves or who gets hired). Instead, they focus on policy, oversight, and making sure our co-op stays true to its mission and values.

Who Can Run?

If you’re an Outpost owner in good standing, the ownership is in your name (not that of a household member) and you joined the co-op before December 6, 2025, you can run! We welcome candidates from all professional backgrounds and experiences. A strong Board reflects the diversity of our community, so if you care about good food, community, sustainable food systems, and cooperation — we encourage you to consider it.

How to Get Started

  1. Complete a Board Candidate Application here: www.outpost.coop/nominations
  2. Spread the word — encourage other passionate owners of our co-op to step forward, too!

Why You? Why Now?

Outpost’s strength has always come from our community. By running for the Board, you’re helping ensure that the co-op continues to grow, evolve and serve as a cornerstone of Milwaukee.

This is your co-op. This is your opportunity. Let’s own a grocery store together.
