What began as a small hobby greenhouse in the backyard of Dan and Joan Milaeger’s home more than 50 years ago has since grown into a sprawling family run garden center full of just about everything under the sun when it comes to plants, gardening, home décor and more. In 2013, Milaeger's decided they wanted to start growing lettuces and microgreens to sell to local restaurants and Outpost jumped at the chance to carry their chemical and pesticide free varieties in our stores. They currently have one greenhouse dedicated to over 15 different lettuce varieties and another section of a greenhouse for microgreens and wheatgrass. They can be used like sprouts as a garnish on salads and sandwiches, in soups, stir-fries, on top of pizza, and even on hamburgers!
