This summer, Outpost in Wauwatosa will be getting a “refresh” to to increase the ease of flow through the departments at the front of the store as well as update some of the store’s backroom functions. Work will begin in early June and will wrap up by summer's end. Shopper's should expect full access to everything they need during the construction phase. 

Here is what we're planning

A completely new look – brighter, bolder colors, wild patterns, fun new signage, a colorful entry vestibule, polished concrete floors...and more

A new café lineup with a larger, lower easy to access service counter and expanded offerings in our grab and go department

Completely new coolers throughout the entire department which will save energy and improve traffic flow in the area

An expanded line of plant-based foods

More convenient ready-to-cook ingredients

A larger "hot and go" unit for chicken and other hot entrees

A larger, easy to shop cheese selection

More freezer space

More refrigerated beer along with expanded wine and craft liquors

An expanded building in back to increase backroom freezer and storage space, and additional prep space for our prepared foods up front

And well – more!

And yes, we will be OPEN during the remodel and expansion.

What's happening this week | June 16 - 22

Look for regular updates as we move forward into the project 

Make way for new energy efficient cases being installed for the following products:

  • Komucha - Monday 6/17
  • Juice - Monday 6/17
  • Eggs - Tuesday 6/18
  • Cut fruit in the produce department - Wednesday 6/19

Also this week, look for the brand spankin' new machine for the RO water and its new home closer to bulk and the front management office. 

Overnight on Sunday, June 23, some cuts will be made to the floor back by meat and produce to accommodate the infrastructure needed for the new cases to be installed in that general area. We will be installing a new meat service case that evening. The multi deck case in cut produce will also be replaced with a new case that has doors. Look for that case to be filled by Wednesday, June 26.

Parking Lot: A construction dumpster must be temporarily located in the parking lot as street side is not allowable. We know that parking is a premium on busy days, so we apologize for any inconvenience. 

Back walls are coming down! We will have the wall and double door into our produce prep back room taken down. Plastic sheeting will be installed to keep any potential construction interference to a minimum. 

The first phase of the project featuring exterior work has been postponed to earl July. It will include light demo in the loading dock area, starting with the removal of the retaining wall and dumpster enclosure area. Landscaping removal along the back fence will also take place in order to accommodate excavation work,
