Why do you want to be on the Outpost Natural Foods Board of Directors?

When I began shopping at Outpost Natural Foods, I began an educational journey. At first, I knew very little about why I should buy organic foods, let alone buying locally. I’ve learned a great deal and want to take a more vested interest in inspiring others to eat healthier, buy organic whenever possible, and to support local growers and businesses. I want to help people to see how their purchasing power can positively influence the local economy and become co-op owners as well. As a board member, it would be a privilege to influence the growth of a stronger future for Outpost Natural Foods and its suppliers.

What professional skills do you bring to a Board position of a $50 million business?

I have a BA in Philosophy and Public Relations from the University of North Dakota - Grand Forks. I’ve worked for both Tell Labs and UOP as a publications editor, after college and while living in Illinois. Later, my husband and I returned to Milwaukee, where we started our family. I worked at Manpower International Headquarters in Product Program Development, working with educational development programmers and beta testing training software.

Describe your prior involvement with community organizations and/or cooperatives.

I volunteered with Mothers Center of Milwaukee and served on the Steering Committee as the Public Relations Coordinator. I’ve been an active member of PTA and PTSA since 2003. I am currently serving as the Nathan Hale Friends of Music Treasurer (2018-2020).
