Consultant, Chair of National Standards Committee
Why do you want to be on the Outpost Natural Foods Board of Directors?
Outpost Natural Foods is a leader in the Milwaukee area for environmentally friendly behavior. This platform can be valuable in accelerating the change to our daily rituals. My wife and I practice organic and additive-free food choices due to some medical issues. I am a national leader of Electric Power Standards related to renewable grid interconnection and smart grid. The latter encompasses electric vehicle to grid fast charging. The former is embarking into safety low voltage systems for application in developing countries (India, Africa). I have historically volunteered my time to promote regional economic development with organizations including the Water Council, Midwest Energy Research Consortium, Midwest energy innovation exchange and Milwaukee 7.
What professional skills do you bring to a Board position of a $50 million business?
Industry expertise includes renewable energy technology, building energy controls, data centers and manufacturing. I am an expert in developing strategic roadmaps, innovation and start-up businesses to enter new markets. I have a proven track record of leading high performing sales teams, enjoying mentorship and coaching roles. I have a strong ability to "connect the dots" with industry research and customer input to identify future needs. I am a leader with Grid Interconnection national standards and Smart Grid standards development, paving the way for more renewable energy. I possess well-developed presentation/negotiation skills and I'm comfortable dealing at all levels internally/externally. Some technical skills I have include Six Sigma, LEEDS Certified and Innovation Techniques.
Describe your prior involvement with community organizations and/or cooperatives.
I participated in a library startup committee in Rochester, MI, was an Outdoor Activities and Programs Chair for the Boy Scout Bay Lakes Council, I established the Ozaukee Boy Scout Adventure Fund (for travel to Jamborees) and I'm a Boy Scout merit badge instructor (various topics).
