Bacon Wrapped Dates with Blue Cheese

These little nuggets of flavor will disappear quickly! You can substitute with turkey bacon or other vegetarian "bacon." Serve warm right from the oven or chill after baking and let come to room temperature before serving.

Ingredients

1 pound sliced bacon, cut in 4" segments

1 pound large pitted dates, like Medjool

4 ounces blue cheese

Wooden toothpicks

Bacon Wrapped Dates with Blue Cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat the over to 375°.
  2. Slice dates in half and open them up. Pinch off pieces of blue cheese and place them into the center of the dates. Put the two halves back together and wrap with a slice of bacon. Pierce with a toothpick to hold in place.
  3. Arrange in a baking dish or on a baking sheet with sides to catch any grease.
  4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the bacon is crisp. Turn dates over after the first 20 minutes for even cooking.
