7-Grain Cereal
1/3 cup cereal
1 cup water cups water

Combine cereal and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 to 8 minutes. Makes 1 serving.


12-Grain Cereal with Flax Seeds
1/3 cup cereal
1 cup water

Combine cereal and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 to 8 minutes. Makes 1 serving.


Alphabet Soup Mix
1 cup soup mix
8 cups boiling water

Combine soup mix and water in a heavy stock pot with a loose-fitting lid. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for one hour. Season as desired.  Serves 8.


Bean and Vegetable Soup Mix
1 cup soup mix
8 cups water

In a heavy stock pot bring mix and water to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Simmer 2-3 hours. Add ham hock if desired. Once beans are tender add whole or crushed tomatoes, salt and pepper or other seasonings as desired.
Serves 8


Curry Lentil Soup Mix 
1/2 cup soup mix
3/4 cups water

In a medium sauce pan, bring water to a boil. Add soup mix and simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, stir and serve. Makes 2 generous servings.


Falafel Mix
1-3/4 cup falafel mix
1-1/4 cup water
Canola or grapeseed oil

In a large bowl, add water to falafel mix and stir well. Let stand 15 minutes to absorb the water. Form into 1 inch balls. Heat 1/2- inch of oil in a deep skillet to 375 degrees. Fry balls until brown and crisp (about 3 minutes). Drain and serve.


Green Pea Soup Mix
1/2 cup mix
3/4c cup water

In a medium sauce pan, bring water to a boil. Add soup mix and simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, stir and serve. Makes 2 generous servings.


Hummus Mix
1 cup hummus mix
1- 1/2 cups warm water
3 tablespoons olive oil

In a medium bowl, add warm water and oil to the hummus mix. Stir until well blended. A wire whisk works best. Let stand 5 minutes.


Harvest Pilaf
1 cup pilaf mix
2-1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon olive oil

In a medium sauce pan, bring water to a boil. Add pilaf mixture, stir and cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 50 minutes. Stir in olive oil and seasonings of your choice before serving. Serves 6.


Izzie’s Irish Oats
1 cup water
1/4 cup cereal

Add cereal to water, bring to a boil. Simmer for 35 to 40 minutes. Add more water if necessary.

Makes 1 serving.


Spicy Southwestern Soup Mix
1 cup mix
5 cups water or stock

Combine soup mix and water.  Boil for 5 minutes. Reduce temperature and simmer, covered, for 60 to 90 minutes, adding water if necessary. Season with lime juice and chopped fresh cilantro. Soup may frozen and reheated.  Yield: One cup dry mix makes 7 to 8 cups of soup.


Sweet Corn Chowder Mix
1/2 cup chowder mix
3/4 cup water

In a medium sauce pan, bring water to a boil. Add soup mix and simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, stir and serve. Makes 2 generous servings.


Tabouli Salad Mix
1 cup tabouli salad mix
1/3 cup olive oil
1 1/4 cup cold water
2 finely chopped tomatoes

Mix all ingredients together, let stand for 1 hour.
Try these additions to your next tabouli salad: olives, fresh parsley, green onion, mint, cucumber or lettuce.


TVP
1 cup TVP
7/8 cup boiling water
Great for burgers, entrées, chili or vegetarian entrees..

Pour water over TVP. Stir, cover, allow to  sit 4 to 5 minutes. Add to your recipe. Rehydrates to 3 times its size. For hot foods, requires minimal cooking.


Vegetarian Chili Mix
1 1/4 cups veggie chili mix
2 1/2 cups water
2 15-ounce cans kidney beans
1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes

In a large pot, bring water to boil. Add chili mix and stir well. Add drained and rinsed beans, and tomatoes with their liquid. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Serve.


Whole Wheat Alphabet Veggie Soup
1 cup mix
8 cups water

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for about one hour. Add water as necessary. To season, try basil, garlic, bay leaves, salt and pepper. One cup dry mix yields 7-8 cups of soup.


Wild Rice Vegetable Soup Mix
1 cup mix
8 cups water

Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 45-60 minutes. Add water as necessary. To season, and basil, garlic, bay leaves, salt and pepper. One cup dry mix yields 7-8 cups of soup.
